EDI Business Analyst/Supply Chain

  • The Supply Chain/EDI Business Analyst primary role is to execute key initiatives aligning business unit requirements to global standard technology solutions.
  • This role focuses on understanding the Company’s business requirements, and translating them to deliverable IS solutions, with concentration on Supply Chain processes encompassed in the EDI/B2B arena. A primary focus being the solutioning of end-to-end Supply Chain processes integrating customer and supplier electronic communication within Oracle ERP.
  • Primary objectives of the Supply Chain/EDI Business Analyst include defining, testing, and implementing customer and supplier transactions, from ERP through EDI communication protocol, with additional focus being placed on downstream Supply Chain processing.
  • Key expectations are understanding of Oracle Release Management, Shipping, Receiving, Forecasting, Supplier Scheduling, and the relevant EDI communication data sets (i.e., 830/DELFOR, 862/DELJIT, 866, 856/DESADV).
  • Candidates should have strong working knowledge of core ERP and ancillary Supply Chain system functionality, and a detailed understanding of EDI transactions, mapping processes, and testing requirements.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience in Oracle ERP, with strong communication, coordination, and project planning capabilities.
  • The execution of this assignment will involve:
    • Understanding of EDI best practices;
    • Ensuring collaboration between Information Systems and other business stakeholders;
    • Managing program timing and tracking, per agreed schedule;
    • Leading communication efforts, related to project status and rollout;
    • Ensuring solution meets business needs, while adhering to global standards.
  • Responsible for solutioning, testing, and implementation of Supply Chain EDI processes.
  • Understands the business issues and data challenges of global business unit functions.
  • Responsible for coordination of end-to-end ERP EDI solutions.
  • Champions adoption of global process standardization.
  • Serves as primary interface, between EDI technical team and the ERP community.
  • Interfaces with 3rd-party vendors.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Analyzes and evaluates current process and systems, benchmarks best practices, and recommends improvement solutions.
  • End-to-end solution ownership of EDI/ERP integration.
  • Manages development, testing, and implementation of EDI/B2B projects.
  • Prepares and maintains document map changes.
  • Maintains trading partners’ and related ERP configuration setups.
  • Serves as primary contact, with customer/supplier technical staff, for setup, testing, and ongoing communications.
  • Provides project management expertise and implementation leadership.
  • Ensures functional and system design specifications meet global standards.
  • Ensures strong working relationship with key business function users and management.
  • Understands the emerging technology and upgrade features for each process, and assesses which should be prioritized and implemented.
  • Provides business solutions management feedback, regarding customer satisfaction.
  • Analyzes and offers recommendations, to improve the use and execution of business systems applications.
  • Assists management in identifying system weaknesses, and recommends solutions.
  • Leads various problem definition and resolution activities.
  • Assesses and predicts the cost and timing impact, of project changes and existing system revisions.
  • Plans and organizes activities and resources, to achieve short and long-range goals.

Education and Experience:
  • BS or BA degree in computer science, business administration, or a field related to the application area - Supply Chain Management or EDI.
  • 5 years, minimum, of ERP system experience (Oracle Applications R12, preferred).
  • Demonstrated EDI X12/EDIFACT experience including design, testing, and implementation of EDI mapping and transaction set processes.
  • Track record of being a member of successful design and/or implementation projects.
