Job Overview:

  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies of the hotel, ensuring that:
    • Revenue and room night sales goals are achieved
    • Revenue, sales, and marketing strategies are set
    • Tactical plans are created and implemented
    • Results are monitored and achieved


  • Making cold calls and sales calls, with goal of 30 quality calls, per week
  • Prospecting, to determine needs
  • Soliciting by telephone directory and internet
  • Developing all leads
  • Perusing online search engines and local papers, for profitable catered events
  • Obtaining recommendations and referrals, from existing accounts
  • Contacting various prospects lists for new business opportunities, and hotel vendors for referrals
  • Conducting site visits with prospective clients
  • Staying ahead of competitive set, and proactively shifting market share
  • Servicing accounts
  • Providing high quality product and service, to all guests and prospective clients
  • Analyzing ultimate potential of the account
  • Setting specific goals, for increasing the volume of business
  • Listening to needs and obtaining valuable operational information, from each account, in order to prepare accurate prep sheets and communicate the needs to the operational departments
  • Handling client complaints, tactfully and expeditiously
  • Suggesting packages and alternate dates, if during peak demand periods
  • Checking and replenishing promotional material and promotional items
  • Impressing, training, and educating accounts, and their employees, in the best way to utilize our property
  • Completing sales contact reports, and following up call reports, promptly, for weekly review
  • Keeping accurate records and turning in reports for calls made, time worked, expenses, new accounts, new bookings, proposals, tentative and cancellations, sales contracts, and BEOs
  • Ensuring that guarantee numbers are received, 72 hours in advance of any function
  • Creating banquet checks, for posting of the account, on the day of the function
  • Sending follow up service letters, to all accounts
  • Ensuring that the meeting rooms are set, as requested by the meeting planner, including diagrams, whenever necessary
  • Ensuring that controls are in place for group events with alcohol; scheduling appropriate security, as required by the type of group

Company Relations:

  • Completing accurate daily sales reports, and submitting weekly
  • Keeping the office informed on complaints and praise, concerning quality service
  • Deploying new and effective sales methods and ideas
  • Rushing proposals and setting up bookings and contracts, promptly
  • Coordinating and conveying all details and information, necessary to other hotel departments
  • Completing a sales resume form, on each group coming into the hotel; distributing at the weekly staff meeting
  • Completing a weekly schedule of events of upcoming meetings and events; distributing at the weekly staff meeting
  • Representing the company at function and meetings, in a professional manner, searching for new contacts and leads
  • Recording all new business on appropriate logs/files, collecting business cards, checking credit references on direct bill accounts
  • Providing tours of the hotel, staying informed of capacities for guest room commitments and maximums for meeting rooms
  • Participating as an executive manager in all staff meetings
  • Other duties as requested or assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Appropriate hotel experience of 5 years
  • Minimum of 3 years' progressive sales management experience
  • 2 years' OnQ experience
  • 3 years' hotel sales management experience 
  • Business hours are from 8:30am-5:30pm
    • You are expected to be punctual in reporting for scheduled work
    • As an exempt employee you may be expected to arrive early, or work late, based on business necessity
