Job Description

This position assists in design, deployment, operations and support for mission critical systems, services and solutions that support global applications as well as server and workplace environments as required by client business units. This includes but is not limited to email, system security, name resolution, software distribution, anti-virus management, encryption technologies, authentication processes and identity management.

As member of the Infrastructure Services team, the Technical Specialist provides experience, support and assistance in the implementation and maintenance of mission critical systems in a complex global IS environment.

Functional:

  • Execute technical and administrative functions and activities related to server and workplace infrastructure and related services, including tactical project management, incident management, change management and operations.
  • Assist in design, deployment and operations for mission critical systems, services and solutions that support global applications as well as server and workplace environments. This includes but is not limited to email, system security, name resolution, software distribution, anti-virus management, encryption technologies, authentication processes and identity management.
  • Contribute to the definition and deployment of standardized workplace operating system environment, productivity tools and business applications.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of solutions and interfaces that enable adoption of systems, services and solutions from managed service providers in both on-premises and cloud-based settings.
  • Contribute to the development of training material and support processes to ensure full adoption of deployed systems, services and solutions.
  • Provide expert-level technical support for deployed systems, services and solutions to the IS community, global support staff and end users as appropriate.
  • Represent the Infrastructure Services team in appropriate settings to present and promote available services and solutions, standards and operational methods and processes.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives, conduct and support Root Cause Analysis activities and apply change management, incident management and project management methods.
  • Foster an environment of positive reinforcement and Continuous Improvement of both staff and processes to keep pace with technology advancements according to business need.
  • Execute audit-related control activities in the area of Infrastructure Services; fully support both internal and external audit and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Follow defined Standards and Processes and contribute to achieving clients goals and objectives.
  • Execute enterprise-class Infrastructure Services plans that address both short-term and long-term business needs.
  • Assist efforts by global peers to standardize infrastructure, methods and processes.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience, preferably in a Fortune 500 company.
  • Minimum of 5 years technical IS experience supporting Windows server and desktop operating systems in a multi-site Active Directory Services environment, preferably with Enterprise Administrator or Domain Administrator level responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years technical experience managing Windows domains, forests and domain controllers – with a strong understanding of domain trusts, SIDs, SID-History, SID filtering, ACLs and Group memberships.
  • Experience with domain migrations, pass-through authentication and automated ACL translations.
  • Experience with remote management of Windows systems using technologies such as WMI and PowerShell.
  • Understanding of LDAP interfacing, LDAP binding and LDAP filters.
  • Understanding of Group Policy Objects, Loopback Processing and WMI Filters.
  • Understanding of name resolution and DNS
  • Understanding of SSL certificates, certificate chains, certificate trust stores, CSRs and CRLs.
  • Basic understanding of cryptography, encryption, decryption and recovery keys.
  • Experience with hypervisors such as VMware ESX / ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Experience with identity federation solutions and single sign-on concepts is preferred.
  • Understanding of backup and recovery methods. Hands-on experience with OS-level and application-level disaster recovery testing is preferred.
  • Understanding of e-mail systems like Exchange and Sendmail and basic e-mail protocols such as SMTP, POP3, MAPI and ActiveSync. Experience in a hybrid email environment is preferred.
  • Experience with software packaging and software deployment is preferred.
  • Training and experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have technical expertise in market leading technologies, vendors, and service providers such as Microsoft, Symantec, Argent, Dell, HP, Mimecast and Amazon
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT experience is required.
  • Diplomas and certifications in Information Systems technology are advantageous.
  • Must have ITIL Foundation certification
